It’s creamy. sweet. delicious.

Best of all it has all of these nutrients to boot!

Apples will give you fiber, antioxidants, and vitamins A, B, C.

Fiber is good in regulating your digestive system, for smooth functioning (especially in the morning) if you know what I mean 😉 Apples is also good for weight management, the  fiber will fill you up in a good way with nutrients and it binds to unhealthy fats in the intestine, lowering your cholesterol. The fiber is good for your skin too! It will keep the natural elasticity of your skin, and keep you looking young!

The antioxidants and vitamins will help your body’s cells rejuvenate and repair. Had too many late nights? The antioxidants will nourish your skin and prevent you getting those dark circles under your eyes. For your skin’s cells, the antioxidants and vitamins will be helping you to repair and rebuild new skin cells, helping you to glow from the inside out!

It will do wonders for your hair too. The antioxidants and vitamins will strengthen your hair locks, prevent hair loss and enhance your hair growth.

Spinach will give you iron.

This powerful nutrient is responsible for you red blood cells to produce hemoglobin. If  we don’t consume sufficient amounts of iron, our blood cells will have a hard time producing hemoglobin which is the substance that carries oxygen throughout our body. Oxygen is our lifeline, it gives us our energy, allows us to think and focus clearly, and preventing us from feeling, weak, tired, or moody.

The best thing about this smoothie is that you won’t even taste the spinach!

Oranges will give you vitamin C, alkalizing minerals and vitamin A.

The vitamin C will will power up your immune system and giving it extra defense, preventing you from catching a cold or falling ill in this winter weather.

Oranges are alkalizing for the body too. What I mean by alkalizing is that it helps balance out our body’s natural PH levels. When we are under too much stress or not watching what we are eating, our bodies become acidic. When it is too acidic, our immune system gets depleted, and it becomes difficult for the body to recover and repair. So when we eat citrus fruits, such as oranges, clementines, or lemons, it helps alkalize the body, helping it get into that natural balanced state where it can optimally rejuvenate and repair our body’s systems to help us feel our best!

Oranges will also give you good vision. They have these fancy compounds called carotenoid which gets converted into vitamin A which protect your eyes so that you can ‘see’ the best out of life! 😉

Plus, oranges are amazingly juicy and zesty sweet, providing a natural sweetener for your smoothie!

These next 2 babies will give your smoothie that oh-so-luscious dreamy creaminess.

Bananas are rich in tryptophan and vitamin B6.

Both of these nutrients work together to produce serotonin, which give you that feeling of calmness, relaxation, and leave you feeling happy!

Bananas also contain natural sugars, and as a whole-food, it will release its energy slowly into your body’s system, providing you endurance and alertness for hours.

I have a sweet tooth so I like adding ultra-ripe frozen bananas into my smoothie to make it extra sweet.

The. more. dots. the. better.

Avocados will give you healthy fats.

The fats in avocado are good fats. The fancy science term is monounsaturated fatty acids. They provide you slow-burning energy, and that feeling of satiety. The avocado in the smoothie will help you feel full until lunchtime.

More than that though, the healthy fats in avocado is good for your brain. The rich and creaminess of an avocado is due to its high fat content, specifically the one called oleic acid, which build the coating of our neurons. Our brains contain myelin, which is a coating of insulation that help our neurons to communicate and transfer information in our neurons faster.  It helps us to process information more effectively and think at a faster rate too! Best to eat up on your avocados if you have a difficult assignment or exams coming up!

Avocados are also good for your skin! It nourishes your skin’s natural oils, keep its natural elasticity, soft, and prevent aging.

Aren’t these avocados a beauty?

So, all of these nutrients in this cup of green goodness.

Nature is amaaaazingly good for you right?!

So to make serving size around 1 glass of wine or medium sized mug you will need:

ingredients green juice

1/2 Apple, roughly chopped (I usually use green apples since they give this tartness which I adore to the smoothie, but red apples will do perfectly too!)

1 small orange / clementine

1/4 large ripe avocado or 1/2 of small ripe avocado (frozen)

1/2 ripe banana (frozen)

Freezing the bananas and avocado the night before gives the smoothie the creamy texture

A handful of fresh spinach

1/4 cup – 1/2 water, depending on how thick or runny you want your smoothie to be (coconut water or almond milk works wonderfully too!) I usually use around 1/4 since I like my smoothies thick.

Put all the ingredients into your blender.

Blend away the green goodness.

Pour it into your mug or a wine glass if your feeling fancy.

Top it with your favorite toppings. I like adding chia seeds, granola, or nuts (for added crunch!) and some more fresh fruits such as berries to mine…

(Or if you’re in a hurry, put it into your thermos or bottle to have in class or at work)

Serve with love.
