Magical Midnight Chocolate Maca Truffles

It’s Friday Night… which means some outta this world recipes are happening in the Wellness to Go kitchen!

Like these truffles.

They’re intensely chocolatey, fudgey, delicious, velvety, and currently the key to my heart (and tummy).

But what makes these truffles so out of this world magical is this ingredient:

Maca.

What is Maca?

Maca is a superfood, which is also known as Peruvian Ginseng. They have been used by the Peruvians for energy, endurance and hormonal balance. Legend has it that the Inca Warriors take Maca before going into battle to increase their energy, strength, and stamina! Fascinating right?

I purchase my Maca from Organic Burst, where their mixture especially combine 4 different types of Maca plant varieties, which particularly make their Maca blend extra nutritious and delicious.

I have been regularly stirring Maca into my oatmeal for my breakfast and I have notice a significant increase in my energy. During these few months I have been super busy and I used to feel drained of energy by sometime around 3 pm and after regularly incorporating Maca into my breakfast, I no longer feel the need to have an additional caffeine boost in the afternoon and do not feel fatigued. I also have more power and endurance when I go running for my workouts!

I would definitely recommend to incorporate Maca into their diet for those of you that are physically active and or have a super busy schedule, I’m sure you would definitely benefit from the extra burst of energy!

So here is the recipe!

Makes 13 Delicious Truffles

Ingredients:

10 Medjool dates

1/4 cup of roasted nuts (I used a mixture of almonds and walnuts, but feel free to use your favorite nuts)

1/4 cup of cacao nibs

2 Tbsp of cacao powder (plus extra for coating)

1 Tbsp of maca powder (plus extra for magical dusting)

A few Tbsp of water to help it blend together

Instructions:

1. Simply blend all of the ingredients in your food processor or strong blender together.

2. Once blended, take around a tablespoon size of the mixture and roll it together between the palm of your hands to form a smooth rounded ball. Continue until the mixture is finished.

3. Then coat the balls into cacao powder and finish off with a magical dusting of Maca powder.

4. Store in an airtight container in the fridge and it will last for a couple of weeks. Storing it in the fridge will also make the truffles extra fudgy-licious.

5. Enjoy!
